Update

I haven't been able to produce a Dandelion Roots show for some time. Increasing physical restrictions are a primary cause, though not the only. I'm unable to play live anymore, and don't even have a deck set up at home. I don't know if this situation will change in the near future. For now, I'll play any great reggae finds on my regular show, although the future of that is also in question for similar reasons.

Dub In The Pub continues in Brighton, now at the Rosehill Tavern...next gig is 31st December....yup! New Year! email me for me details.

I recently made a mix of notable reggae covers.
Here it is:

August 2012

This month on Dandelion Roots: Mostly vinyl, as usual, except this month's must-have...'Avalanche Reggae vol2' from DJ Folly, DJ Maselli on Funny Records.
Great new 45s from Macka B, I Roy,Perfect, Mike Brooks, Terry Linen, Max Powa, Harvey K Tel with Snorkie and Capleton.

French reggae/hip hop from Stix Record's Mato with 'Hip Hop Reggae vol 4'.

Dr Alimantado gives us an oldie, and Gappy Ranks has Had Enough.

Play loud, and dance around the room a bit.
If anyone knows what 'sky juice and festival dumpling' actually means, please let me know.

June News

Thanks to everyone who entered last month's competition. There were no correct answers. I was surprised, as I thought it was pretty easy. Where was the famous Studio One in Jamaica? Brentford Road, Kingston, of course! The next episode of Dandelion Roots will be in July. More ear-opening reggae from Eastern Europe. More excellent hiphop/reggae from French Stix Records, newest from Nice Up!, various bits of vinyl. See you there.

May 2012

This month on Dandelion Roots;

New dub from Dubkasm, and Monkey Marc on the latest 'Dubbers' volume from Jahtari records. Roots from Turbulence and Black Skin The Prophet. A welcome reappearance of Duckman's classic 'Duck Talk'. Calypso/Jungle mash from Ennio Maccaroni, DJ Tzinas on Dirty Dubsters 4th issue in their Ragga Party Jams series.

In support of the London International Ska Festival,  I'm giving away a free, limited pressing 7" single of Phoenix City Allstars ft. Dave Barker's excellent Ska cover of Will You Still Love Me Tommorow. For details, listen to the show.

Overall, some serious dread, some genre-bending, some silliness and some bum-loosening bass.

Welcome

Welcome to a new show for Dandelion Radio focusing on reggae and sub-genres.
For now, it'll be 1 hour every 2 months. I wish to maintain the high standard of selection I've maintained over 6 years of podcasting. So, no fillers, only the topping.

I regularly DJ live in Brighton UK as 'Coseyhead' with 'Dub In The Pub' sound system. This show is an opportunity to share some of my best dance tune finds, and also play out stuff that might not go down so well live, but must be heard!
